  1. What is the purpose of the registry?

 The GHABPR aims to understand how bipolar disorder affects children over time, especially those diagnosed with bipolar disorder or who have a parent with the condition. Researchers study brain and behavior patterns to learn more about the disorder’s development.

  1. What does participation involve?

Participation includes:

  1. A virtual visit with the study coordinator (up to 4 hours, with a parent present)
  2. In-person cognitive assessment
  3. Sample collection (blood and saliva) (optional)
  4. MRI scan (optional)

Annual follow-up visits until the child turns 25

  1. How will this affect my child’s medical care?

Participation is completely voluntary and will not impact your child’s medical care in any way.

  1. Will my child be compensated?

Yes, each child enrolled in the study may receive compensation of up to $125 for their time.

  1. How is my child’s information protected?

As a data registry, GHABPR collects and stores information securely to study changes over time. All data is handled confidentially and in accordance with research ethics and privacy standards.
