The UTHealth Houston Center for Behavioral Health Services and Outcomes Research at McGovern Medical School strives to be a globally recognized leader in behavioral health services and outcomes research. Its mission is to advance scientific knowledge by developing and delivering effective behavioral health services and programs. Key areas of focus include intervention development, implementation science, health services and outcomes research, mental health informatics, and community engagement. Through innovative research, the Center aims to generate evidence that drives changes in health policies and practices while educating and training clinicians and researchers in evidence-based practices, with a special emphasis on vulnerable and underserved populations.
The Center seeks to enhance behavioral health service delivery by developing evidence-based strategies for prevention, promotion, and the provision of patient-centered, effective, and cost-effective care. By leveraging partnerships with healthcare systems, state and local governments, academic institutions, national and community-based organizations, and local communities, the Center aims to translate research into real-world practice.
