15th annual Yatsu Day set for Oct. 4
The UTHealth Houston Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease will host the 15th Annual Yatsu Day Symposium, “Reviving Hope: AI Innovations and Emerging Technologies in Stroke Recovery,” from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Oct. 4 at the Cooley Center at the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (7440 Cambridge St.).
The Yatsu Day symposium aims to help increase physicians’ and trainees’ knowledge in lifestyle modifications, mental well-being, and brain health education for patients. The symposium will discuss how AI technologies are being used to develop new approaches for stroke recovery, describe how digital health can enhance clinical care for patients in their homes and community, and summarize how AI and digital health will bring stroke clinical trials to the community.
Speakers from McGovern Medical School include Heather Smith, SLP, CBIS, ACRM, LVST; Anna Clearman, OT, MOT, CLT; Jason Burnett, PhD; Seema Aggarwal, APRN, PhD; and Kendra Anderson, PhD. Additionally speakers from the event include James Grotta, MD; Jiajie Zhang, PhD; Xiaoqian Jigan, PhD; and Jinsook Roh, PhD.
The Yatsu Day Symposium will also feature interactive stations, now enhanced with AI technology demonstrations, which will provide a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas and exploring collaborations. The two interactive stations are AI in Stroke Rehab, led by Jiang; and Virtual Reality for Stroke Rehab, led by Aggarwal.
Additionally, the symposium will feature the Stroke Institute Student Expo, consisting of presentations showcasing cutting-edge research projects from students who have been making strides at the Stroke Institute.
