September 28, 2021

Coronary Bypass Simulation Lab On September 27, 2021,  The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDA) and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program ramped up their first Simulation Lab of the 2021-2022 Academic year. The simulation program, offered four times per year for cardiac and once per year for general thoracic, provides fellowship surgery trainees the opportunity to develop their surgical skills through hands-on practice and experience. Simulation-based learning is part of the program’s didactic curriculum and provides necessary training and practice outside of the operating room. The Coronary Bypass Simulation was Lab was led and instructed by cardiac and thoracic surgical specialists, Drs. Juan Abreu and Robert Hetz.

Special thanks for Pearl Adams for organizing the program, and for providing the below photos and video.
