Breastfeeding Medicine

Breastfeeding medicine combines medical and lactation support to provide care for patients with breastfeeding problems.

Our advanced practice providers can evaluate, diagnose, and treat a variety of breastfeeding-related health issues, including problems like low milk supply, mastitis, and persistent breast and nipple pain while our IBCLCs provide primary lactation support.

We can order labs and imaging and prescribe medications when needed.

We also provide breastfeeding medicine services to patients of community IBCLCs using a collaborative model in which the community IBCLC remains the primary lactation support person. If you are looking for this type of service, please have your primary IBCLC complete this referral.
