What to expect during a lactation consult
When you arrive at the Lactation Foundation, you will be greeted by one of our friendly team members. You and your support person(s) are then escorted to a private consultation room. You will discuss your concerns with the consultant and a complete medical history on mom and baby will be taken. Baby’s weight will be obtained and in most cases, an observation of baby feeding at the breast will be done. After the consult a personalized plan of care will be provided. A follow up visit will be scheduled if needed.
What to bring to a consult
- A baby that is ready to feed
- Pumped breast milk or formula (if using already)
- Your breast pump and pump parts, if available
