What to expect during a lactation consult

When you arrive at the Lactation Foundation, you will be greeted by one of our friendly team members. You and your support person(s) are then escorted to a private consultation room. You will discuss your concerns with the consultant and a complete medical history on mom and baby will be taken. Baby’s weight will be obtained and in most cases, an observation of ┬ábaby feeding at the breast will be done. After the consult a personalized plan of care will be provided. A follow up visit will be scheduled if needed.

What to bring to a consult

  • A baby that is ready to feed
  • Pumped breast milk or formula (if using already)
  • Your breast pump and pump parts, if available
