Monica Delgado-Alfaro, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, IBCLC
Monica is a board-certified lactation consultant and family nurse practitioner.
“From the start of my nursing career, I always had a passion for caring for families, especially new moms and babies. I worked on a postpartum unit for about 14.5 years before transitioning to work as a hospital lactation nurse. I enjoy spending time with new parents and educating and supporting them on breastfeeding and caring for their newborn. I truly love being a part of this major life moment and helping to make a difference.
I was able to breastfeed each of my babies, but I, too, faced a lot of the same challenges other new moms experience with breastfeeding. I found it challenging at times to maintain the optimal milk supply while working 12-hour night shifts with my first two daughters. There were many times when I wanted to quit. My passion to help other new parents led me to pursue a career in lactation full-time. I am so excited about being a member of the Lactation Foundation team and being able to help more families in the Houston area.”
Monica has three children. She enjoys spending time with her family and watching her kids play sports.
