A recent piece entitled, “Difficult Cases, Unclear Boundaries Put Ethicists at Risk for Burnout,” focused on ethicists’ roles in addressing burnout in organizations. McGovern Center assistant professor, Joelle Robertson-Preidler, PhD, MA, was quoted about the importance of reporting burnout. Robertson-Preidler shared a personal experience of sharing her struggles with burnout, initially worrying about stigma, but finding many attendees could relate. She noted that clinical ethics work puts people at high risk for burnout and addressing burnout requires structural change as well as empowering individuals to set appropriate boundaries.
