Two pieces written by Emily Barr, PhD, RN, CPNP-PC, CNM, FAAN, were recently published. The first is “Vespers: A Nursing Origin Story Set in the Dawn of the HIV Pandemic,” which was published online in the journal, AIDS. In Vespers, Barr reflects upon her early work in HIV and journey into nursing.
Her second piece, “Encyclopedia Brown: A Story for My Brother, Philip Seymour Hoffman,” appears in The Paris Review.
Barr was a fellow in the first cohort of the McGovern Center-Inprint Writing Fellowship.
