McGovern Center associate professor Keisha Ray, PhD, recently published an essay that critically examines the argument that authorship is breaking down due to artificial intelligence (AI). In the paper, “Death of the Human Author: Authorship, AI and Human Choice (external link),” Ray argues that although AI has potential for minor contributions, it is humans who must retain core authorship roles, yet the concept of authorship must evolve.
