Zhen “Jane” Huang, MD, MBA; Kunal Jain, MD; and Zi Yang Jiang, MD, were named by their peers as Super Doctors Rising Stars in Texas. Following an extensive independent nomination and research process, the results were published in Texas Monthly magazine and online at www.superdoctors.com. The Super Doctors Rising Stars list celebrates the best doctors in Texas who have been practicing 10 years or less.
Dr. Huang, an assistant professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, was born in southern China and moved to Texas at the age of 7. She received her MD/MBA at Dartmouth College as a recipient of the Dr. Hampers Leaders in Healthcare Scholarship. She interned as a consultant for a biomedical firm, and after spending almost a decade in New England, returned to Texas and completed residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Huang’s clinical interests include sleep-disordered breathing, congenital neck masses, open and endoscopic pediatric airway, chronic ear disorders, and hearing loss, as well as pediatric voice disorders.
Dr. Jain has been on the Super Doctors Rising Stars list since 2017. An assistant professor of otorhinolaryngology and attending surgeon at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, he is director of head and neck oncology at Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. He leads the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery’s annual free cancer screening, held every April at the department’s three otolaryngology clinics across Houston. His clinical interests include head and neck and thyroid cancer and advanced reconstruction and rehabilitation, including transoral robotic surgery for the oropharynx. His research interests include improving outcomes of head and neck surgery procedures.
Dr. Jiang earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and fellowship training in pediatric ENT at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. An assistant professor, he has been recognized with numerous awards during his academic career. His clinical and research interests include clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness in otolaryngology, pediatric neck masses and airway surgery, and fetal-neonatal health.
