Pediatric otolaryngologist Kenneth H. Lee, MD, PhD, professor of otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program at Children’s Health℠ in Dallas, will be the guest of honor at this year’s ORL Frontiers, to be held June 20, 2025, at the TMC3 Collaborative Building in Helix Park in Houston.
Dr. Lee received his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed otolaryngology residency training at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric ear, nose, and throat surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Lee is a leader in research, pioneering techniques to treat hearing loss in children, including the development of new cochlear implants and the effectiveness of bone-anchored hearing aids in children. His research also includes collecting and evaluating data outcomes in children who receive cochlear implants. A recipient of many research grants, he has published numerous manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, as well as textbook chapters and review papers. Dr. Lee is the recipient of awards from both the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Triological Society. Recognized as an academic leader for his excellent teaching and mentoring skills, he holds the John W. and Rhonda K. Pate Professorship in Otolaryngology and has made invited presentations at numerous international conferences on the topic of hearing loss surgery.
The Otorhinolaryngology Frontiers medical education meeting highlights research endeavors and emerging technology in the diagnosis and management of common otolaryngologic clinical problems. Attendees learn about technological advances and their applications in clinical practice and evaluate patient safety and quality improvement practices.
This year’s course directors are Zi Yang Jiang, MD, associate professor and chief of pediatric otolaryngology, and Amber Luong, MD, PhD, professor and vice chair for academic affairs in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology. Faculty are Shiva Daram, MD, and Vivian Kaul, MD, both assistant professors in the department.
