Meet Our Residents
The UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School Child Neurology Residency Program was accredited November 8, 1992. This program hosts nine residents each year, along with an additional six residents in the preliminary two years of the program. Additionally, the Pediatric Neurology Division now offers nine subspecialty fellowship opportunities and counting. This Division is rapidly expanding to meet the growing needs of the diverse patient population in Greater Houston.
It’s worth noting that many Pediatric Neurology Faculty have come through this residency program, including Mary Kay Koenig, MD, Professor and Director of the Center for the Treatment of Pediatric Neurodegenerative Disease as well as Co-Director and Associate Professor Nivedita Thakur, MD. Current Residency Program Director and Associate Professor Shadé Moody, MD, is also a UTHealth alumnus, and the list goes on. Simply put, exceptional professionals have chosen to not only study here, but they have also stayed to build their careers and invest in the next generation of physician-scientists, refining the program each year to customize the learner experience. UTHealth offers ample growth potential. Our Child Neurology Residents benefit immensely from these opportunities and this strong foundation as does the community in our care.
