About PSQC

PSQC Mission

The PSQC mission is to improve the value and quality of pediatric surgery by improving surgical processes and outcomes using performance data and experience of our member hospitals.

PSQC Overview

The Pediatric Surgery Quality Collaborative (PSQC) is a quality improvement initiative comprised of children’s hospitals in the U.S. PSQC intent is to improve national surgical outcomes in commonly performed procedures across all member sites. PSQC members are active participants in ACS NSQIP-P data submission. The PSQC is leveraging the data submitted to NSQIP-P by each member hospital to identify opportunities for quality improvement in commonly performed procedures.

In September 2021, the PSQC convened a group of PSQC members and representatives from ACS NSQIP-P for a strategic retreat. As the PSQC is relatively new (launched Jan 2020) and has grown rapidly, we wanted to set a clear path for the PSQC to  function for the foreseeable future. The goal of the retreat was to formalize the operational structure of the PSQC; better define PSQC relationship with NSQIP-P; and set a process for how future projects would be identified and implemented.
