Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE)

Our full-time, two-year post graduate clinical social work fellowship is funded by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium under the Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE) and offers LMSWs comprehensive training towards clinical licensure and independent clinical practice. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, high quality supervision, multidisciplinary collaboration, and extensive direct psychotherapy experience.

Program Mission Statement: The mission of the UTHealth Houston Clinical Social Work Fellowship program is to prepare emerging social work professionals for advanced, evidence-informed clinical practice in the outpatient mental health setting serving children and adolescents, their families, and adults. Grounded in the values of the social work profession and NASW Code of Ethics, the fellowship develops clinicians who provide person-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care that promotes dignity, well-being, and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. Alongside UTHealth Houston’s mission, the fellowship integrates interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge, and best practices in mental and behavioral health to improve individual and community mental health outcomes.
