LCSW Fellowship Activities

Service Delivery:

  • Under the supervision of LCSW-S and Clinical Psychologists, fellows provide evidence-based mental health services to children and youth.
  • Each LMSW carries a clinical caseload between 5-10 children and youth (4 – 17 years ) and provides 1-2 therapy sessions per day.

Clinical Supervision:

  • Individual and group clinical supervision towards LCSW licensure is provided weekly.
  • Clinical supervision adheres to best practice recommendations established by the National Association of Social Workers and includes topics on:
  • Delivery of evidence-based psychotherapy and treatment fidelity
  • Provider resilience and burnout prevention
  • Cultural competence
  • Ethics
  • Psychiatric diagnosis using DSM-V criteria
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Administration and interpretation of validated clinical assessments to tailor treatment

Monthly Didactic Topics in collaboration with Psychology Interns and Psychiatry Residents:

  • Evidence-based child/youth mental health treatment
  • Impact of social determinants of health on mental health
  • Impact of adverse childhood experiences on mental health
  • School mental health
  • Mental health of children/youth in out-of-home placement.
  • Play therapy
  • Suicide assessment and safety planning
  • Interprofessional practice
