Circle of Security

The Circle of Security program is a partnership among UTHealth, BakerRipley, and the Infant Toddler Court Team in Fort Bend County. This partnership aims to increase caregiver knowledge on topics related to early childhood development and well-being as well as teach parenting skills using the Circle of Security Parenting ™ Model (COS-P™). COS-P™ is a program based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. The curriculum aims to help parents:

  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem and sense of security
  • Be a good enough parent rather than a perfect parent
  • Honor their own innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure
  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • Feel more confident as a parent
