The role of the Office of Administration & Faculty Affairs is to promote the careers and development of our faculty and staff physicians in support of the clinical, research and education missions of McGovern Medical School.
We are pleased to announce that UTHealth Houston has developed a process for departments to request a “Visiting Professor Title” for distinguished visitors who will be on campus for a defined time (e.g., one week), providing a seminar or two or participating in medical/scientific conferences hosted by UTHealth Houston.

The Mentoring and Promotion Program (MAPP) will help our junior faculty chart their unique path to success in the context of a group mentoring format. The application for the 2024-2025 year will be open through September 18, 2024. To apply, click here.
If you have questions about MAPP, please send an email to [email protected]

Effective 9/1/2019, faculty whose primary focus is teaching may be appointed on the newly created Non-Tenure Instruction (NTI) track. Click here for details.
Faculty considering applying for promotion with less than 5 years of service in current rank are considered accelerated and must satisfy rigorous criteria above and beyond normal expectations that have been recently codified by the FAPTC (click here for criteria). Chairs and faculty are strongly urged to consult the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs before submitting a request for accelerated promotion.
