Visitors to MSB G.100 and MSB 3.001 may notice a new type of signage greeting them upon entry to these rooms.

Digital room calendar signs now display real-time scheduling information for these areas with visual feedback on room availability.

This project of moving from paper to digital schedules is the result of years of work by Conference Operations and Information Technology.

“We are very excited to introduce these to McGovern Medical School,” said Valerie Buchanan, senior manager, AV/IV & Conference Services. “This is just the beginning. As funds allow, we will add these digital signs to other rooms throughout MSB, MSE, and possibly other locations.”

The project lead is Anthony Bales, systems and applications specialist with Conference Operations, who worked alongside Buchanan, Bill Severson, Lad Hirschfeld, Sean Lopez, Joe Collier, Phillip Dinh, Greg Dorsey, and Amity Browning to complete the first phase of the project.

“I am very proud of the work and time that Anthony spent to learn, create, and implement the digital room calendars for our school,” Buchanan added.

The new signage pulls the scheduling information directing from the Astra Cloud scheduling application. Conference Services contact information, security desk phone number, and scheduling URL address are also shown on the display.
