Congratulations are in order for Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery, Rana Afifi, MD for being nominated and elected as the Secretary for the Texas Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (TSVES). Afifi has been an active member of the society for two years, heavily involving herself in the planning and coordination of the society’s annual meetings and events.

In 2019, Afifi helped organize the TSVES Annual Meeting’s first student symposium, introducing students to the field of vascular surgery; providing a unique opportunity for medical students at all levels to interact with members and leaders of TSEVS. She has been both a presenter and moderator at the TSVES annual meetings and will continue her involvement with the society by voluntarily serving as the group’s Secretary.

“Being elected as secretary of TSVES offers me a great opportunity to give back and foster collaboration with our colleagues throughout Texas, with the sole purpose of improving the vascular surgery care we provide for our communities” she says. “All while supporting the aspirations and ambitions of our students, residents, and fellows. They are the future of vascular and endovascular surgery.”

Congratulations to Dr. Afifi, and to TSVES for selecting a true pillar of representation for the society’s objective in the “enhancement of the skills and knowledge of the surgeons and medical personnel through the exchange of information and ideas essential to maintaining the highest standards of patient care in the vascular surgery.”
