Welcome to the McGovern Medical School Family Medicine Residency Program!

As a university-based FMRP in Houston, TX, we have the resources and experience to train motivated residents to be outstanding family medicine physicians. Our goal is to prepare you to use your knowledge, skills, and personal strengths to provide quality patient care and meet the challenges of today’s medical landscape.

You will learn from world-class teachers and leaders at the Texas Medical Center, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, and community clinics. Our faculty members are dedicated and deeply involved in resident education. Using the ACGME milestone and PCMH models, we emphasize the continuity of care and management of acute, chronic and preventative medical issues. Our program is procedural-oriented and focuses on innovative teaching methods. You will have the opportunity to work in both an underserved and a private setting. The diverse patient population and large patient volume prepare our residents to thrive in multiple environments.

We will challenge you to be your best by nurturing the curious learner, fostering effective communication skills, and creating leaders through facilitating and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of faculty, residents, nurses, clinicians, pharmacists, social workers and behavioral specialists.

We prepare our residents for opportunities after residency, and are dedicated to training exceptional and compassionate family medicine physicians who will provide high-quality comprehensive primary care and will advocate for their patients.
