Ask one of your friends or family members to be your breastfeeding support. Having a support person increases the likelihood you will meet your breastfeeding goals.
Get prepared before baby is born. Take a breastfeeding class or meet with one of our Lactation Consultants for a one-on-one consult.
Soon after baby is born, hold him with his skin touching your skin. This will allow him to naturally find the breast and begin to nurse.
Breastfeeding frequently is normal, especially, in the early weeks after birth. As baby grows the length of time between feedings gets longer.
If you are concerned that breastfeeding is not going well or you are having pain, call the Lactation Foundation today! Getting help early, especially during the first week, makes breastfeeding concerns easier to correct.
