A recent article in Nature featured comments from Keisha Ray, PhD, about sizeism in the scientific workplace. Ray explained that weight bias and stigma can be found in health and science. One reason for this is the belief that those working in these fields ought to “know better.” The article’s author notes that changes in the work environment and avoiding personal remarks are two ways to improve conditions to reduce sizeism.
