We are delighted  to share some exciting news from the recent 6th Annual Houston Shock Symposium held at Houston’s, The Galleria. Carrie Bakunas, MD, whom is the Medical Director of Emergency Services at Memorial Hermann Hospital – TMC & an Assistant Professor for UTHealth Houston’s Department of Emergency Medicine, made history as the first-ever ER Physician to present at this prestigious conference!

Dr. Bakunas fascinated the audience with her thought-provoking debate lecture titled “VA-ECMO Cannulation in the Emergency Room – Why ER Physicians Should Do It. It’s an ER MD call.” Her presentation shed light on an important aspect of emergency medicine practice, sparking insightful discussions among cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and intensivists in attendance.
