Resident Roast 2025: Honoring Our Graduates with Humor & Heart

Our department recently celebrated one of its most beloved traditions—our annual EM Resident Roast—hosted once again at the House of Blues Houston.

This highly anticipated event brought together faculty, residents, and staff for an evening of unforgettable moments, shared laughter, and heartfelt recognition.

Each year, the Resident Roast gives us the chance to honor our graduating class in true EM fashion—with humor, humility, and a few good-natured jabs.

This year’s event did not disappoint. PGY-3s and graduating residents Matthew Shopshire and Gunnar Reichenberger took the stage as this year’s hosts, guiding the evening with sharp wit, impeccable timing, and genuine appreciation for their peers and mentors.

Many thanks to everyone who helped bring the night to life and to all who joined us in celebrating the residents who’ve made a lasting impact throughout the year.
