The strength of a shared response.

In emergency medicine, moments matter and sometimes, they define us

Late one night, our team was reminded of that truth when a patient collapsed without a pulse in Triage.

Without hesitation, Nicolas Heft, MD picked her up and carried her to a critical care room. What followed was a rapid, coordinated effort by nurses, techs, and physicians that ultimately gave her a second chance at life.

Special recognition goes to:

  • Victoria Morris, MD
  • Allison Grim, MD
  • Valerie Pulido, RN
  • Anthony Tran, RN
  • Lori Haddock, RN
  • Christopher Williams, RN

and many others whose skill and teamwork contributed to this patient’s survival.

What makes this story even more powerful is that Dr. Heft later reunited with the patient at a Heart2Heart Support Meeting, where she shared her recovery journey.

She was healthy, thriving, and a living reminder of why we do what we do. It’s never just one person—it’s the trust, skill, and compassion of an entire team working as one.Heft heart collageWe’re humbled by the privilege to serve and grateful for every opportunity to see the impact of that teamwork come full circle!
