Breaking new ground in space medicine, Hannah Rosenthal, MD, is pioneering innovative healthcare solutions for astronauts on lunar missions.

She recently presented her project, “Building the Pressurized Rover Medical System,” developed in collaboration with NASA’s Johnson Space Center Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program.

Her work advances how future crews will deliver medical care inside pressurized rovers on the Moon’s surface, bridging operational medicine, engineering, and human spaceflight innovation.
This project exemplifies the intersection of clinical expertise and aerospace technology, pushing forward NASA’s vision for sustainable exploration beyond Earth.

UTHealth Houston and our department are proud of Dr. Rosenthal and the fellowship program for their ongoing contributions to space medicine and the development of innovative solutions for the challenges of human spaceflight!
