A Year Powered by People & Purpose: Reflecting on 2025
As we wrap up 2025, it’s the perfect moment to look back on a year defined by collaboration, togetherness, and meaningful achievement.
From clinical excellence and education to research, innovation, and community engagement, 2025 was filled with milestones that showcase the strength and impact of our teams across every corner of the program.
We extend our sincere thanks to our Faculty, Residents/Fellows, Hospitalists, Administrative Team, & SSEM partners whose daily commitment and teamwork continue to move our mission forward. Their leadership and resilience remain the foundation of everything we do.
Earlier this year, we proudly celebrated our graduating residents and fellows. As they step into the next chapters of their careers, we continue to wish them the very best. Their accomplishments reflect years of dedication and excellence, with some receiving national recognition through SpaceX & NASA–affiliated awards, highlighting the innovative work coming from our teams.
At the same time, we welcomed a new class of interns embarking on their residency journey. From day one to team-building activities like Intern Scrap Yard Day, they have already brought energy, enthusiasm, and momentum to the program.
We also had a bit of fun and games [no pun intended] beyond the clinical setting. This year’s Sonogames showcased teamwork, technical skill, and collaboration in a dynamic, hands-on environment – reflecting the talent and creativity of our education team.

- Ryan Johnson (PGY3) recognized as a rising leader with Best Research in Texas award and spot on the TCEP Board link

- Dr. Ben Karfunkle celebrated for a legacy of excellence and service link
