Our APPs recently participated in a large-scale mass casualty simulation, with EM Advanced Practice Providers serving as faculty instructors and observers throughout the event.

Designed to simulate a mass shooting response, the event brought together students from across multiple disciplines, including nursing, social work, and dental, to work as a team in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
Participants were tasked with triaging patients, coordinating care, and delivering critical interventions under pressure – helping reinforce the importance of communication and rapid decision-making during complex emergency scenarios.

Our APPs played an important role in guiding the event, serving as faculty instructors and observers while supporting learners through the simulation process and helping shape a meaningful educational experience.

Special recognition goes to the following individuals for their leadership and dedication throughout the event:
Additional thanks to Drs. Kevin Schulz & Jevons Wang for their contributions and support.
This initiative reflects our department’s continued commitment to simulation-based education, interprofessional collaboration, and preparing future healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, high-quality care, when it matters most.
