Biography

Dr. Amit Mehta is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for Harris Health. Board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics, Dr. Mehta directs Medical Informatics for the Department of Emergency Medicine and serves as the Director of Emergency Medicine Informatics for Harris Health System. He leads the implementation, optimization, and enhancement of clinical information systems (CIS), including the Epic Electronic Health Record, to improve provider workflows and elevate patient care.

Dr. Mehta also directs the Harris Health Physician Informaticist team, collaborating closely with clinicians to identify and address opportunities for system improvements, ensuring seamless integration of technology into clinical practice.

Additionally, he develops applications in partnership with IT to support various initiatives, including the Department of Emergency Medicine’s billing, residency educational programs, and the Quality Assurance division.
