Virtual Ultrasound at KATH and the University of Ghana

The Department of Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Section at the UTHealth Houston and McGovern Medical School is providing an innovative virtual ultrasound educational program at KATH and the University of Ghana Medical Centre at Accra, Ghana during the 2021-2022 academic school year. Led by Dr. Hannah Smith, the goal of this longitudinal, monthly, interactive ultrasound curriculum is to teach the uses of ultrasound for emergency medicine physicians.  We are evaluating the “Effects of a Virtual Cross-Cultural Ultrasound Curriculum on Trainees’ Ultrasound Knowledge, Satisfaction and Usage.”  This service to KATH and the University of Ghana Medical Centre has an impact on the emergency medicine trainees, faculty, and patients in Ghana, and we are excited to continue to grow this partnership.
