Dr. Jonathon Cavaleri is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, who completed his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado Boulder and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Southern California, where he received the 2025 Michael L.J. Apuzzo Prize for Creativity and Innovation awarded by the Department of Neurosurgery. He went on to complete a fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He joined the faculty at UTHealth Houston in 2026.
Dr. Cavaleri has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, editorials, and case reports. His research interests include understanding the neurophysiologic mechanisms governing motor processing, alternate stimulation paradigms in deep brain stimulation, and neuromodulation for visual restoration. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Cavaleri has a special interest in deep brain stimulation, MR-guided ultrasound treatments for movement disorders, surgical management of facial pain, and surgical management of epilepsy.
