Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) for Bipolar Disorder
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether non-invasive transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) therapy will reduce symptoms of depression and anhedonia (lack of pleasure) in adults ages 21 to 65 years with bipolar disorder. tDCS is a popular type of brain stimulation using a painless, wearable device, similar to a helmet that delivers low-level electrical currents to the outside of the scalp. This placebo-controlled study includes clinical and laboratory evaluations, two MRI scans, and 14 sessions of tDCS. Eligible participants will receive a total of $700 as compensation for their time in the study, which lasts 6 weeks.
