UTHealth MRI

At the UTHealth Houston MRI Center, located within McGovern Medical School, we’re redefining what’s possible in medical imaging. Our team is pioneering advanced MRI techniques—such as selective tissue imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging, and diffusion tensor imaging—to unlock deeper insights into neurological disorders, central nervous system trauma, and drug addiction in human subjects.

But we don’t stop at imaging. Our researchers are developing powerful, automated image processing tools capable of handling vast datasets from multi-center clinical trials—making large-scale research faster, smarter, and more reliable.

Taking innovation even further, our center features the uPMR 790, a state-of-the-art system that delivers simultaneous PET/MRI imaging with exceptional temporal and spatial resolution. This next-generation technology transforms routine clinical imaging into real-time anatomical and functional exploration, while opening new frontiers for cutting-edge research.

Whether it’s advancing diagnostics or accelerating discovery, UTHealth Houston MRI Center is where technology meets impact.
