Biography

Dr. Carrie Bakunas is originally from Houston, TX. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of New Mexico where she also attended medical school. Dr. Bakunas attended UT Houston for her Emergency Medicine residency. She then went on to complete an Emergency Ultrasound fellowship at UT Houston.

After fellowship, Dr. Bakunas moved to New Mexico to practice Emergency Medicine in the community for several years. She then returned to Houston where she now works as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and is part of the Ultrasound Section at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Bakunas also serves as the Medical Director of Emergency Services at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center (TMC).

Her clinical interests include Global Health, Emergency Ultrasound, Prehospital Ultrasound, ECPR, and Quality.
