Biography

Dr. Takenaka is a product of a UT-Houston education, having completed both medical school and residency training in emergency medicine here.  Due to her interest in education, Dr. Takenaka completed the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Teaching Fellowship and obtained a master’s degree in education.

She has been involved in education at the medical student level as a small group facilitator for both Problem-Based Learning and Ethics courses, Physical Diagnosis preceptor, Curriculum Committee member, and a former emergency medicine clerkship director. She is currently an Associate Residency Program Director.  After completing the Texas College of Emergency Physicians’ Leadership and Advocacy Fellowship, she discovered an interest in organized emergency medicine.  She has subsequently become the TCEP Education Committee chairperson.
