Dr. Kayleigh Fischer is an Assistant Professor at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook in New York before completing her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Rochester. Dr. Fischer furthered her training with a fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. She is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Fischer has a strong passion for medical education and adolescent care in the Emergency Department. She serves as the Assistant Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship, where she has developed, reimagined, and taught multiple curricula, including those focused on evidence-based medicine, journal clubs, and research methodologies.
In addition to her teaching roles, Dr. Fischer conducts clinical research aimed at improving education and adolescent care in the Pediatric Emergency Department, with her work being published in studies and presented at national conferences.
