Biography

Michael Van Meter is a Professor of Emergency Medicine. Originally from New Orleans, he serendipitously attended Texas A&M University for undergrad, then matriculated to Tulane School of Medicine while also working towards a master’s in public health, and finally trained in Emergency Medicine at NYU/Bellevue.

Starting as core faculty in 2010 at UTHealth Houston EM, he has always had a residency centric paradigm with a focus on process improving systems to maintain a high standard for training the next generation of emergency physicians.

He has served in various roles including Clerkship Director, Assistant Program Director, Interim Surgical and Clinical Skills Center Director, Program Director, and currently serves as Vice Chair of Education. He has worked at the national level with CDEM and CORD as well as at the state/regional level with TCEP.
