Dr. Luber is the Executive Vice-Chair of Academic Affairs for the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM). From March 2018 to June 2019, he served as interim co-chair of the department.
After completing his residency, Dr. Luber moved to Texas and became an assistant residency director at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. While in Dallas, he was involved in bench research on resuscitation and clinical research evaluating diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Additionally, he served as director of the Parkland Health and Hospital System Emergency Department Fast Track and was the Associate Medical Director for the Richardson Fire Department.
He has completed the American College of Emergency Physicians’ teaching fellowship, advanced teaching fellowship, and EM Basic Research Skills course.
At McGovern Medical School, Dr. Luber is an Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education. He serves on the Graduate Medical Executive Committee, Quality and Accreditation Subcommittee and chairs the Work Environment Subcommittee. He recently became a member of the Academy of Master Educators. Regionally, he has served on the Texas College of Emergency Physicians’ Medical Education Committee and he was a national co-chair of the Council of Residency Directors Task Force on Individualized Interactive Learning.
