Texas Army National Guard’s State Surgeon, Dr. Scott Bier, and Colleagues Inspire & Inform at EM’s Thursday Conference

Scott Bier, MD, a veteran of the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade and the current State Surgeon for the Texas Army National Guard, shared his experiences and insights with our Faculty & Residents. Dr Bier, CPT Jessica Rousseau, MD and UTHealth’s Christopher Stephens, MD covered a variety of topics ranging from their personal backgrounds and professional goals, to the many opportunities in Military Medicine.

Afterwards, Michael Van Meter, MD, MPH was presented with a prestigious Challenge Coin from Dr. Bier. This coin was awarded to Dr. Van Meter for his exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to the field of emergency medicine.
