We’re proud to share the outstanding contributions made by members and affiliates of our Emergency Medicine department at the 2023 UTMB Global Health Symposium.
Hannah Smith, MD presented “Effects of a Novel Virtual Year-Long Cross-Cultural Ultrasound Curriculum in Ghana” on behalf of the UTH EM Ultrasound section and Ghanian collaborators’, which covered the virtual curriculum consisting of core EM Ultrasound applications that was provided to Physicians of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana, during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic when international travel was limited. We’d like to thank all those involved for their collective efforts.
PEM Fellow, Jebha Babu, MD alongside PEDs Assistant Professor & Assistant Vice President of Global Health Initiatives, Kristina Tebo, MD jointly presented “Utility of Global Health Rotations in Preparation for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Careers”, which delve into the benefits and limitations of Global Health rotations and the crucial role they play in preparing individuals for careers in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Babu completed a Global Health rotation in February 2023 at the Hospital of Hope in Togo, Africa,
