Spotlight: Dr. Schulz & EMS Fellows show their strength at IRONMAN North American Championship!

We are thrilled to share the outstanding contributions of our UTHealth Houston EMS Fellowship team at this year’s Memorial Hermann IRONMAN: Texas race. This event, designated as the IRONMAN North American Championship, was not only a pivotal moment for IRONMAN athletes but also a significant opportunity for our EMS Fellows.

Heather Renfro & Travis Goodloe, nearly 3,000 athletes had direct access top-notch medical care. The presence of our skilled and compassionate team ensured that participants had the support they needed while striving to achieve their lifelong dreams!

This year’s televised event attracted even more professional athletes, adding to the excitement and prestige of the race. Our EMS Fellows gained invaluable experience in sports and event medicine, showcasing their expertise in a dynamic but unfamiliar environment.

A special acknowledgment goes to Dr. Schulz, who not only led our team with distinction but was also featured prominently in The Woodlands – City Lifestyle  publication. The article highlights Dr. Schulz’s pivotal role as medical director for several Houston-based IRONMAN events and shares his inspiring personal journey of losing 60lbs and completing the IRONMAN in Florida! His story, accompanied by a cover photo with his trusted TT bike, graced the April 2024 issue of City Lifestyle.
