We extend our congratulations to the Polaris Dawn team on their successful launch early Monday morning from Cape Canaveral!
The four-person Polaris Dawn mission, which aims to achieve a historic first by conducting the first-ever private spacewalk, lifted off on Sept. 10th at 5:23 a.m. EDT. The mission launched atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex-39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
This launch site, renowned for hosting most of NASA’s Apollo moon missions, witnessed the Polaris Dawn crew embark on a journey that promises to extend the boundaries of human spaceflight.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at UTHealth Houston is proud to have contributed to the mission’s success by providing extensive medical training to the crew. This collaboration underscores the teamwork and dedication integral to such groundbreaking missions. We anticipate witnessing the crew’s contributions to advancing science, medicine, and human endurance.
