The Department of Emergency Medicine proudly highlights the recent work of our Mobile Simulation Training Unit (MSTU), which delivered a hands-on, high-fidelity training session for more than 30 emergency medical rescuers from South Texas.
Led by Gowri Stevens, MD and Jessica Wilson, MD, the MSTU provides cutting-edge educational experiences using realistic, computer-controlled mannequins that simulate critical emergency scenarios — including road traffic injuries and respiratory emergencies. These immersive trainings allow EMS providers to hone life-saving skills in a safe and controlled environment, enhancing their preparedness for real-world emergencies.
This impactful event was hosted at Wyatt Ranches’ Tasajillo Division near Hebbronville, Texas, made possible through the generous partnership and support of Wyatt Ranches and Mr. Brad Wyatt.
We extend our sincere thanks to the EM Faculty and Residents whose time and expertise made this training a success: Drs. Kevin Schulz, Leanne Fagan, Grace Owens-Pochinka, Hannah Rosenthal, Karl Upplegger, and Sam Beger.
Our program remains committed to advancing prehospital care and strengthening the capabilities of EMS teams across Texas through innovation, collaboration, and high-quality education!
