From Houston to Italy: Dr. Shabana Walia Contributes to Global Trauma Dialogue
UTH-EM Celebrates Dr. Shabana Walia Speaking at IEMIG in Italy
Dr. Shabana Walia recently represented UTHealth Houston Emergency Medicine at the inaugural Italian Emergency Medicine Interest Group (IEMIG) Major Trauma International Congress held last month in Prato, Italy.
Dr. Walia was 1 of only 3 U.S. presenters invited to speak at the conference, where she presented on “Mass Casualty Preparedness & Response” alongside emergency medicine and trauma specialists from across Italy.
The event gathered leaders in trauma care, disaster preparedness and emergency medicine from around the world, offering a valuable forum for collaboration and the exchange of expertise across the global EM community.
Beyond the conference, Dr. Walia even had the chance to explore the Tuscan countryside and experience Italy’s food, culture and art; a memorable backdrop to an already meaningful professional milestone.
