Our program recently welcomed students participating in the National CEF You Be The Solution STEM Challenge (external link) for an immersive introduction to emergency response and lifesaving skills.

Hosted in collaboration with our Simulation Team, the event introduced students to several core concepts in EM through interactive stations designed to build confidence, critical thinking, and practical skills.

Participants learned the fundamentals of high-quality CPR, proper automated external defibrillator (AED) use, tourniquet application, and lower extremity splinting using realistic, life-size simulation manikins.

Throughout the session, students rotated through hands-on exercises that allowed them to experience how healthcare professionals assess and respond to emergencies. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to engage with complex medical concepts were evident throughout the day!

While the students arrived with an impressive foundation in STEM, the simulation experience provided a unique opportunity to connect science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with real-world healthcare applications. The training also highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, and rapid decision-making in emergency situations.

A special thank you goes to our SIM Team for creating an engaging and memorable educational experience. Their dedication and expertise helped bring emergency medicine to life for the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

We were honored to host these talented students and look forward to continuing opportunities that inspire future leaders in STEM and healthcare!
