Cluster Headache Study

The Will Erwin Headache Research Center – Cluster Headache Study (WEC1)

The major goal for us at The Will Erwin Headache Research Center is to further the research on headache prevention and treatment through building a registry of patients with cluster headache, hemicrania continua, trigeminal neuralgia, SUNCT/SUNA, and other headache disorders. This registry includes both survey data and genetic data. All of the headaches we study are more rare than migraines.

Studies have shown a genetic factor as a potential cause for many of these headaches, suggesting an underlying genetic issue. However, as of 2023, their etiologies of these headaches are currently unclear.

Dr. Mark Burish and the study team hope this databank will lead to better treatments or cures for these debilitating and under-studied headaches. This observational study consists of several questionnaire surveys and a saliva collection which is free of charge. There will be no financial compensation for this study. This study can be completed remotely.

To qualify you must be:

  1. Above the age of 18 years old
  2. Has one or more official or undiagnosed headache
