Cardiovascular
This fellowship offers comprehensive training in cardiovascular imaging, emphasizing advanced imaging techniques for both cardiac and vascular systems. Fellows will receive expert training in the imaging of the heart, coronary arteries, and related cardiovascular structures, with a focus on both pre-operative and post-operative evaluations. The integration of cutting-edge imaging modalities, such as cardiac and vascular CT and MRI, will equip fellows with the skills necessary to contribute to the Institute’s high standards of care in complex cardiovascular conditions, including those related to transplant surgery.
Goal
The fellowship is a one-year post-graduate training in cardiovascular imaging, with a balanced emphasis on cardiac and vascular imaging.

Clinical emphasis
The Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship is a hands-on, one-year program in which fellowship-trained cardiovascular radiologists provide advanced training in the interpretation of cardiac and vascular imaging studies, including cardiac CT, coronary CTA, cardiac MRI, vascular ultrasound, and MR/CT angiography. Fellows will gain experience in non-invasive imaging techniques for evaluating cardiovascular diseases.
Fellows will have access to a large and diverse patient population and state-of-the-art imaging technology, including cutting-edge CT and MRI scanners optimized for cardiac imaging. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, with weekly case discussions involving cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and vascular specialists, in which fellows are expected to actively participate.
In addition to clinical training, fellows are encouraged to engage in research and academic opportunities, contributing to advancements in cardiovascular imaging and patient care.
Rotations
Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Center: Memorial Hermann-TMC is a 1082-bed tertiary care facility with an emphasis in trauma care and transplant surgery. The Cardiovascular Imaging (CVI) Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC is a premier institution that can provide excellent education to fellows with exposure to a high-volume, high-complexity case mix, reflecting its role as a leading quaternary referral center.
The center serves a diverse patient population, including complex cardiovascular cases referred from across Texas and beyond. Fellows will gain hands-on experience interpreting a large volume of cardiac CT, coronary CTA, cardiac MRI, vascular ultrasound, and MR/CT angiography studies performed daily.
Overall, the fellowship program at Memorial Hermann-TMC CVI Center will provide an unparalleled educational experience through its high patient volume, advanced imaging techniques, and integrated multidisciplinary approach, preparing fellows for excellence in cardiovascular imaging.
Research & Academic Time
Fellows will receive protected research time according to their ongoing projects under direct faculty supervision.
Conferences
Fellows will actively participate and present at multiple interdisciplinary conferences, including cardiology, structural heart team meetings, and aortic conferences, collaborating closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and vascular specialists. Additionally, the fellowship provides a multidisciplinary training experience, allowing fellows to engage with cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology teams during elective rotations, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated educational experience.
Compensation & Vacation
Salary and allotted vacation time are given in accordance with the University of Texas System policies, and administered by the Department of Diagnostic & Interventional Imaging. Additional time away from work may be granted, on an individual basis, by the Program Director, with approval of the Department Section Chief, to present material at or attend one or more professional conferences.
