Dr. Kevin Schulz Featured on TODAY Show Discussing Extreme Heat
Triple-Digit Heat Across the South
August has brought another stretch of intense summer heat across Houston and much of the South, with temperatures repeatedly climbing into the triple digits and creating dangerous conditions for residents, outdoor workers, and first responders!
Amid these extreme temperatures, Kevin Schulz, MD, FAEMS, FACEP, EMS Fellowship Director and Associate Professor, was recently featured on the TODAY Show (external link) to discuss the health risks associated with prolonged heat exposure.
Dr. Schulz, who was recently named the City of Houston EMS Physician Director, shared his expertise on heat-related illness, the warning signs to watch for, and the importance of taking precautions during periods of extreme heat. His appearance highlights the important role emergency medicine and EMS physicians play in helping communities prepare for and respond to heat-related emergencies.
