Message From Dr. Morcos

Message from Jacques J. Morcos, MD, FRCS, FAANS, FCNS

The MASSIN (Madjid Samii Society of International Neurosurgery) was created in 2002 by former trainees and colleagues of Professor Samii to celebrate and expand his neurosurgical school, through bi-annual Congresses and interim Congresses. More information can be found on the MASSIN website.

I was honored and delighted to be selected as the President of the 8th MASSIN Congress, from Oct. 2-5, 2024. My home institution, the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at Mc Govern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, and I were so happy to welcome attendees to the Texas Medical Center, the world’s most comprehensive Life Science Ecosystem, in the most welcoming and most cosmopolitan city in the United States—Houston, Texas.

We thank all of the superb speakers for helping us present a terrific Scientific Program, which we felt covered all subspecialties, with a focus on the art and skill of neurosurgery. The speakers have been predominantly trained in or associated with the superlative Madjid Samii school of surgical excellence, with a significant participation of speakers from other various corners and institutions.

For the first time in MASSIN history, we collaborated with the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), whose Annual Meeting took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston from Sept. 28-Oct. 2, 2024, immediately preceding the MASSIN Congress. The MASSIN Congress’ inaugural session (Oct. 2 from 2:00-5:45 p.m.) took place at the Convention Center on the last day of the CNS Meeting, before moving to the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM) at UTHealth Houston for our remianing sessions.

On behalf of Professor Samii and the MASSIN members, I thank you for your attendance and participation.

Dr Jacques Morcos MD
